About Domaine de la Pousse d'Or
The domaine sits on the slope above Volnay and owns three walled vineyards outright: Clos de la Bousse d'Or, Clos des Soixante Ouvrées and Clos d'Audignac. Gérard Potel ran it from the 1960s until his death in 1997 and built its reputation in that period. Patrick Landanger bought the estate that year and has since added grand cru parcels in Clos de la Roche, Bonnes-Mares and Corton, along with Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses and holdings in Pommard and Santenay. The reds are made for keeping rather than for early charm.

What is the difference between the Potel and Landanger vintages?
Gérard Potel made the wine until 1996 and those bottles have a devoted following. Patrick Landanger took over in 1997 and spent several years reworking the cellar and expanding the vineyard holdings, so the two eras taste different and are priced differently.
Does Pousse d'Or make grand cru wine?
Yes, though only since the 2000s. Clos de la Roche and Bonnes-Mares in the Côte de Nuits and Corton in the Côte de Beaune joined a range that had been built entirely on Volnay premier cru.
How long do Pousse d'Or wines age?
The Volnay monopoles generally want eight to ten years and hold well past twenty. The grand crus ask for longer. Older Potel bottles need careful provenance given their age.
