About Domaine de la Romanée-Conti

The estate is built on six grand crus in Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Échezeaux: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Grands Échezeaux and Échezeaux. Romanée-Conti and La Tâche are monopoles, owned outright by the domaine, and Romanée-Conti itself covers under two hectares. Beyond Vosne, the domaine makes a red Corton and two whites, Corton-Charlemagne and Le Montrachet, plus a Vosne-Romanée premier cru in stronger vintages. The vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically, with old vines, low yields and hand harvesting.

Collectors who follow DRC usually work through the rest of the Côte de Nuits as well. Our Vosne-Romanée Wines and Grand Cru Wines pages cover the neighboring vineyards, and the full Burgundy Wines selection runs from village bottlings to the top of the Côte d'Or.

Frequently Asked Questions

What wines does Domaine de la Romanée-Conti make?

Six grand crus from Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Échezeaux: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Grands Échezeaux and Échezeaux. The domaine also produces Corton, the white Corton-Charlemagne and Le Montrachet, and in some years a Vosne-Romanée premier cru.

Why is Romanée-Conti so expensive?

The vineyard covers under two hectares and yields only a few thousand bottles a year, which the domaine allocates rather than sells openly. Demand runs far ahead of that supply, and older vintages compete with collectors who never intend to open them.

Can you buy a single bottle of DRC?

Not from the domaine, which sells in mixed cases to its allocation list. Single bottles reach the market through private cellars and the secondary trade, which is how the bottles on this page are sourced.

How long do Domaine de la Romanée-Conti wines age?

Most of the reds need at least ten years and drink well for thirty or more, with Romanée-Conti and La Tâche running longest. Corton-Charlemagne and Le Montrachet reward a decade or more in a cold cellar.
