Château d'Yquem is the only Sauternes estate ranked Premier Cru Supérieur in the 1855 classification, and the 1983 is one of its great modern vintages. Harvest ran from late September to mid-November as noble rot concentrated the Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Wine Spectator rated it 98 points, describing butterscotch, dried apricot, fig and spice, and named it to its Top 100 Wines of 1988. Robert Parker called it among the most concentrated Yquems in two decades and predicted a life of nearly a century. This 6-liter bottle is an extraordinary rarity for a collector or a milestone celebration.
