Gruaud Larose 1945 3000ml

Château Gruaud Larose, the second growth of Saint-Julien, made a massive, long-lived wine in 1945, the celebrated post-war victory vintage widely considered one of the greatest of the twentieth century. This three-liter double magnum is an extraordinary rarity from the era. Wine Advocate described a backward, meaty, chewy wine with huge reserves of fruit, licorice, black fruits and herbs, likening its style to the estate's great 1961 and 1982, and Vinous has also reviewed it. Large bottles of this age are scarce, and condition matters greatly. Decant carefully and serve with patience; well-kept bottles can still show remarkable depth and vigor.
