Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux, the Vosne-Romanée estate formerly known as Domaine Robert Arnoux, has become one of Burgundy's most talked-about domaines since Charles Lachaux took the helm. His approach, emphasizing whole-cluster fermentation and meticulous vineyard work, yields Pinot Noir of striking perfume and transparency. This village Nuits-Saint-Georges offers an accessible entry point into the range. The warm, early 2020 vintage produced concentrated yet fresh wines, and here that means ripe dark cherry and red berry fruit, spice and the fine, firm tannins characteristic of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Approachable with decanting now, it will be at its best from the late 2020s and should drink well into the 2030s.
