Aubert Chardonnay UV-SL Vineyard Sonoma Coast 2013 750ml

Mark Aubert, former winemaker at Peter Michael and Colgin, makes some of California's most powerful and sought-after Chardonnays from single vineyards on the Sonoma Coast. UV-SL is planted with old Wente clones on the deep Goldridge sandy soils typical of the region. The warm 2013 vintage produced a big, dramatic wine with nectarine, tangerine oil, mango and caramelized citrus around a dense core of fruit, along with firm structure. Wine Advocate highlighted its "liquid stone minerality" and noted it was closed at first before opening dramatically. At more than a decade old, it should now show added honeyed and nutty complexity; drink over the next few years.
