Russell Bevan's Bevan Cellars earned cult status by sourcing tiny lots from top Napa Valley sites, and the McGah Vineyard, a Rutherford parcel owned by the McGah family, became one of its signature bottlings. The 2012 put many collectors on notice: Wine Advocate awarded it a perfect 100 points and called its richness "off-the-charts." Almost entirely Cabernet Sauvignon, it shows an inky purple color and layers of blackberry, blueberry and cassis with graphite, spring flowers, licorice and forest floor. Vinous highlighted its silky tannins and lifted, floral perfume. Drinking gloriously now, it has the concentration to keep evolving for another decade or more.
