Bevan Cellars, known for opulent single-vineyard Napa Cabernet, sources this bottling from the Saunders Vineyard, a rugged, rocky site in Oakville. Vinous called the 2017 "one of the most distinctive wines in the range," noting how it balances the richness of the year with the site's natural minerality. Jeb Dunnuck was even more enthusiastic, describing blackcurrant, chocolate, spice box, graphite and leafy herbs, with full-bodied richness, serious tannin and no hard edges. Lavender, rose petal and exotic spice accents add aromatic lift. Now past its youthful phase, it is entering a good drinking window and should age gracefully into the mid-2030s.
