Bevan Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Wildfoote Vineyard Vixen Block 2017 750ml

Russell Bevan's Bevan Cellars has built a cult following for opulent single-vineyard Napa wines, and the Vixen Block comes from the Wildfoote Vineyard in the Stags Leap District. The 2017 is all Cabernet Sauvignon, and Jeb Dunnuck called it "a blockbuster of a wine," full of crème de cassis, blackcurrant, chocolate, leafy herbs and tobacco. The International Wine Review admired ripe blueberry and cassis woven with spice, while Vinous highlighted inky blue fruit, chocolate and espresso. Ripe, pure and beautifully balanced, with a long finish, it shows the polish that makes Stags Leap Cabernet so appealing. Drinking well now, it should keep improving into the early 2030s.
