Russell Bevan's Bevan Cellars has become a cult name for lavish, polished Napa Valley Cabernet, and the Vixen Block is a small section of the Wildfoote Vineyard in the Stags Leap District. The 2018, aged 19 months in new French oak, comes from a long, even growing season that produced one of Napa's finest recent vintages. Blue fruits, violets, chocolate and flowery incense lead into a full-bodied, layered, seamless palate with silky tannins. Jeb Dunnuck ended his tasting note simply with "Love it," and both Wine Advocate and Vinous were equally enthusiastic. Rich enough to enjoy now, it should age gracefully through the late 2030s.
