Boars' View Pinot Noir The Coast Sonoma Coast 2012 750ml

Boars' View is the Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir and Chardonnay project of Fred and Carol Schrader, the couple behind Schrader Cellars' famed Napa Cabernets, and the 2012 The Coast was its debut release. The winemaking team aimed for muscle, structure and density, working with the Calera, Mount Eden and Swan clones. It shows a dense ruby-purple color with raspberry, black cherry, earth and spring flowers, then a juicy, succulent, medium- to full-bodied palate with bright acidity. Robert Parker called it "a heck-of-a debut offering," and Vinous described it as ripe, juicy and explosive. Now in its peak window, it should drink well for a few more years.
