Charles Van Canneyt Volnay Santenots 1er Cru 2020 750ml

Charles Van Canneyt is the grandson of Alain Hudelot-Noëllat and now runs that respected Vougeot domaine, while also making a small range of wines under his own name. The Santenots premier cru lies just across the border in Meursault, but its red Pinot Noir is bottled as Volnay, and it is known for pairing Volnay's perfume with a little more depth and structure. The 2020 vintage was warm, dry and early in Burgundy, giving concentrated, ripe wines with surprising freshness. Expect red and dark cherry fruit, rose petal and baking spice over fine, supple tannins. Enjoy from now through about 2035.
