Cirq crafts small-production Pinot Noir in Sonoma's Russian River Valley, and its Bootlegger's Hill bottling is one of the label's signature wines. The 2014 vintage, the third straight drought year in California, brought an early harvest and Pinot Noir with ripe fruit and early charm. Here that means red cherry, raspberry and red plum lifted by sweet tobacco, dried flowers, mint, dried herbs and a twist of orange zest. Vinous described it as "an especially gracious, silky Pinot Noir for Russian River." Delicate in style, with very fine-grained tannins and a subtle earthy edge, it is drinking beautifully now and should hold well over the next few years.
