Cliff Lede Vineyards is best known for its Stags Leap District estate, but this bottling comes from Beckstoffer To Kalon in Oakville, among the most storied Cabernet Sauvignon sites in Napa Valley. The 2021 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a dry, low-yielding vintage that produced concentrated, structured wines. Expect black fruits, roasted herbs, black olive, chocolate and an iron-like edge, with lavender, licorice and espresso adding to the classic To Kalon profile. The palate is powerful and layered with velvety tannins, yet Jeb Dunnuck found it "flawlessly balanced," and Vinous praised its tension and energy. Approachable with decanting, it should evolve beautifully for two decades.
