Cliff Lede Vineyards, best known for its Stags Leap District estate, also crafts a single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Beckstoffer's historic To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville, drawing on blocks that span the site from east to west. The 2022 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 21 months in mostly new French oak. A warm vintage marked by a late-summer heat wave, it still produced a generous, expressive wine that favors elegance over bombast, with no hint of overripeness. Ripe cherry, violets, blueberry, mocha, dried spice and loamy earth lead to a plush palate, silky tannins and lifted freshness. James Suckling called it "a pleasure to drink without tiring." Approachable now, it should age 15 years or more.
