Colgin's Tychson Hill Vineyard is a tiny hillside parcel north of St. Helena, planted beside the restored cottage of Josephine Tychson, one of the first women to build a winery in California. The 2015 vintage earned perfect 100-point scores from Wine Advocate and Jeb Dunnuck, plus 98 from James Suckling. Cassis, crushed red cherry and mulberry are layered with chocolate, espresso, cloves, lavender and dried roses. Elegant and medium to full-bodied, it shows mineral and savory depth with a long, perfumed finish. Suckling praised its "great depth and length." Lush and expressive today, it sits at the start of a long drinking window and should age gracefully for 15 years or more.
