Diamond Creek Three Vineyard Blend Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 750ml

Al Brounstein founded Diamond Creek on Diamond Mountain in 1968 and pioneered single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa, bottling Volcanic Hill, Red Rock Terrace and Gravelly Meadow separately. The 2013 Three Vineyard Blend is a rarity: an experimental wine that was never commercially released, combining 70% Volcanic Hill, 25% Red Rock Terrace and 5% Gravelly Meadow. It is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot, aged 22 months in French oak. Wine Advocate awarded it 98 points, describing blueberry pie, baked plum, black cherry, chocolate and rose oil over velvety tannins. Vinous simply wrote "What a wine." Approachable now with decanting, it has the hillside tannin to age another two decades.
