Domaine Armand Rousseau in Gevrey-Chambertin is the reference producer for Chambertin, and its holding in this most famous of Gevrey's grand crus is the estate's flagship Pinot Noir. Decanter scored the 2019 at 99 points, calling it "the reference standard in Chambertin," and Burghound gave it 98. The warm, dry 2019 growing season produced small yields of concentrated fruit, yet this wine stays cool and tightly knit, with dark berries, morello cherry, poached plum, spice, earth and floral notes over firm, fresh acidity. Blended from several parcels, it is built for the long haul. Cellar until at least 2030; it should age for decades.
