Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc 1994 750ml

The Chave family has tended vines on the hill of Hermitage for centuries, and Jean-Louis Chave's white Hermitage, built mostly on Marsanne with some Roussanne, ranks among the most age-worthy dry whites in France. The 1994 proved even stronger in bottle than it had seemed from barrel, and Robert Parker counted it among the most seductive, perfumed and multi-layered whites he had tasted from the domaine. Expect honeyed white flowers, minerals and an unctuous, deeply textured palate. Parker predicted a long closed phase followed by decades of life, and at more than 30 years of age this bottle should now be showing mature, nutty, honeyed complexity.
