Dominus Estate Napa Valley 1983 750ml

Dominus Estate was founded by Christian Moueix of Pétrus fame on the historic Napanook vineyard near Yountville, and 1983 was its debut vintage, with only about 2,100 cases produced. Wine Advocate described the young wine as backward, full-bodied and tannic with an austere, Bordeaux-like personality, offering damp woods, jammy cassis, cedar, licorice and a touch of spice, and ranked it among the finest California Cabernet-based wines of the year. More than four decades on, expect a mature bouquet of cedar, tobacco, earth and dried black fruit with fully resolved tannins. A genuine piece of Napa Valley history, it is best enjoyed now, decanted gently off its sediment.
