Château Ferrière is one of the smallest of the classified growths of 1855, a Margaux third growth with vineyards close to the village of Margaux itself. Under Claire Villars-Lurton, the estate has embraced organic and biodynamic farming, producing a refined, aromatic style built on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The 2022 vintage was one of the hottest and driest on record in Bordeaux, yet the best estates made concentrated, fresh and remarkably balanced wines. Expect dark berry and cassis fruit with the violet perfume that is a hallmark of Margaux, alongside fine, silky tannins and a long finish. Give it five years or so in the cellar; it should then drink well for two decades.
