Fontodi Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo 2015 750ml

Vigna del Sorbo is Fontodi's single-vineyard Sangiovese from an eight-hectare, southwest-facing site of galestro soil in front of the estate in Panzano, in the heart of Chianti Classico. First made in 1985, it is now bottled as a Gran Selezione, the appellation's top tier, from organically grown grapes. The 2015 earned 98 points from Vinous, which predicted it "will go down as one of the truly epic wines of the year." James Suckling went further, calling it the greatest Chianti Classico Fontodi has made. Rich, red-fruited and seductive, it shows cherry, currant, earth, sage, licorice and rose petal with polished, vigorous tannins. Drink now through 2035 and beyond.
