Harbison Estate's Pony Express Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a small Oakville vineyard sandwiched between some of Napa Valley's most famous names, including Screaming Eagle, Rudd and PlumpJack. The wines are made by Russell Bevan, known for his bold, cult-level Napa reds. The 2011 vintage was one of Napa's coolest and most challenging in modern times, with a late, rain-affected harvest that produced more restrained Cabernets with lower alcohol and fresher acidity than usual. That makes this a more classically proportioned Oakville Cabernet. At nearly 15 years old it is fully mature and best enjoyed now, ideally decanted.
