Morey-Saint-Denis sits between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny on Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, and Clos Sorbè is one of its respected premier cru vineyards. The Jouan family, longtime growers in Morey, craft this Pinot Noir to express the site. 2021 was a frost-hit, low-yield vintage that produced fresher, more classically proportioned reds, and John Gilman called this "a superb example of this classical vintage." Red and black cherry, summer truffle, venison, spice, cedar and chalky soil notes lead to a deep, seamless palate with tangy acidity, fine-grained tannins and a long finish already hinting at secondary complexity. Enjoy from now with air, or hold through the late 2030s.
