Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat, now led by Charles van Canneyt, owns a prized old parcel of Romanée-Saint-Vivant dating to 1920, in the northern part of the grand cru close to Domaine de la Romanée-Conti's holdings. The 2017 earned 98 points from John Gilman, who called it "breathtakingly beautiful wine in the making," with sappy black cherries, black raspberries, raw cocoa, lavender and deep minerality. Decanter praised its detailed, lacy and refreshing character. Light on its feet yet loaded with fruit, this Pinot Noir captures the charm and transparency of the 2017 Côte de Nuits vintage. Approachable now, it will continue to develop over the next 15 years.
