Kistler Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard Carneros 2015 750ml

Kistler Vineyards, the Sonoma producer that helped define California's modern Burgundian-style Chardonnay, sources this bottling from Lee Hudson's famed vineyard in Carneros, drawing on one of the site's older blocks. Among Kistler's many single-vineyard Chardonnays, Connoisseurs' Guide singled out the 2015 Hudson as the richest and most lavish of the lineup. It opens with pink grapefruit, pear tart and green mango, then ripe apple, almond paste, orange blossom, honeycomb and toasty oak, with a satiny, mouthfilling texture and a long, uplifting finish. A touch of grip gives it backbone and structure. Drinking well now, it should hold nicely for several more years.
