Kistler is one of California's most storied names, built by Steve Kistler into a benchmark for Sonoma Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Winemaker Jason Kesner apprenticed under Kistler for eight years before taking full charge in 2017, making this 2018 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir one of his early releases. The fruit comes from top Sonoma Coast vineyards, many of them farmed by Kistler itself. 2018 brought a long, cool, even growing season and a generous crop, ideal for Pinot Noir with freshness and finesse. Expect red cherry and forest-floor tones in a silky, focused style. Drink now through about 2030.
