The 2012 vintage was a welcome return to abundance in California, with an ideal growing season and a generous crop following two cool, difficult years. Kosta Browne, the Sebastopol-based producer that helped define modern Sonoma Pinot Noir, captured that ripeness in its Russian River Valley appellation bottling. Wine Advocate described it as "a gorgeous Pinot," subtle and nuanced yet not lightweight, with mulled red and black fruits, cinnamon, loamy earth and dried flowers. The palate is supple and layered, with excellent mid-palate depth and a clean finish, while Vinous highlighted its floral, red-berry perfume. Now well into its second decade, this Russian River Valley Pinot Noir should be enjoyed soon.
