Château Léoville Las Cases, the Delon family's Saint-Julien second growth whose Grand Enclos borders Château Latour, produced a monumental wine in 2022. It earned perfect 100-point scores from James Suckling and Wine Advocate, along with 99 from Decanter, Jane Anson, Jeb Dunnuck, Vinous and Chris Kissack. Wine Advocate called it "the best young Léoville Las Cases I've ever tasted," while Suckling hailed "a neoclassical masterpiece." The blend of 83.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10.5% Cabernet Franc and 6% Merlot shows pure cassis, blackberry, lead pencil, violets, ink, cigar box and crushed stone over silky, palate-staining tannins. Offered here in a 1.5-liter magnum, it should be cellared until at least 2031 and will age for many decades.
