Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon is the Mâconnais estate of Dominique Lafon, whose family's Domaine des Comtes Lafon is one of Meursault's most celebrated names, and its vineyards are farmed biodynamically. Viré-Clessé, in the northern Mâconnais, is prized for Chardonnay that combines richness with lively acidity. The sunny 2018 vintage delivered generous fruit, and this bottling opens with citrus oil, fresh peach, blanched almond and orange blossom before a medium- to full-bodied, satiny and layered palate. Wine Advocate noted its "bright spine of acidity" beneath a pretty core of fruit. It is drinking well now and should stay fresh for another couple of years.
