Château Margaux, the Margaux first growth classified in 1855, is one of the most famous names in Bordeaux. The 1970 vintage was large and consistent across the Médoc, producing classic, structured wines that have aged slowly. This bottle was made during the Ginestet family's ownership, before the Mentzelopoulos family bought the estate in 1977 and began its celebrated revival. After more than 50 years, mature Margaux of this era typically shows a fragrant, savory bouquet of cedar, tobacco, dried red fruit and earth on a light, silky palate. This rare 3000ml double magnum format ages more slowly than standard bottles and makes a memorable centerpiece for a birth-year celebration.
