Luc Morlet, a Champagne-born winemaker, and his wife Jodie make site-driven Napa Valley wines, and the Morlet Estate Cabernet Sauvignon comes from their own vineyard just north of St. Helena. The 2013 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, and Wine Advocate likened it to a first-growth Pauillac, with creamy blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, licorice, graphite and subtle oak, excellent minerality and a multi-dimensional mouthfeel. Vinous was likewise impressed by its fruit intensity. 2013 was a warm, consistent Napa vintage that produced deep, age-worthy wines. Offered here in magnum (1.5L), it should develop slowly and drink well for another 15 to 20 years.
