Morlet Cabernet Sauvignon Estate St. Helena 2016 750ml

Luc and Jodie Morlet's family estate sits just outside St. Helena, and its Morlet Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is the most structured, powerful wine in their lineup. The 2016 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from vines propagated from Margaux cuttings, and only about 275 cases were made. A superb, balanced Napa Valley growing season produced bold crème de cassis, mocha, Black Forest cake, smoked earth and minerals on a full-bodied, big-boned palate with ripe, grainy tannins and a long, mineral-laced finish. Vinous praised its "tremendous class and pedigree to burn." Now about a decade old, it is entering its drinking window and should keep for another 15 to 20 years.
