From Knights Valley in Sonoma County, Luc Morlet's Mon Chevalier is a Bordeaux-style red led by Cabernet Sauvignon, offered here in a 1.5-liter magnum. The 2013 combines 86% Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot, and only around 650 cases were made. Vinous counted it among the most elegant wines in a long vertical, pairing real power with finesse, while Wine Advocate credited Morlet with proving what Knights Valley Bordeaux varieties can achieve. Expect ripe red cherry, plum, cassis and blackberry with mocha, chocolate, licorice, cured meats and dried rose petal over a lush, full-bodied frame. The magnum format should help it age gracefully for another 10 to 15 years.
