Morlet Chardonnay Coup de Coeur Sonoma Valley 2013 1500ml

Luc Morlet, a Champagne native and former winemaker at Peter Michael, founded Morlet Family Vineyards with his wife Jodie, and Coup de Coeur is their selection of the very best Chardonnay barrels in the cellar. The 2013, a tiny five-barrel lot offered here in magnum, earned 98 points from Wine Advocate, which called it "this prodigious Chardonnay." Orange marmalade, white peach, pineapple and mango mingle with subtle toast and a stony, mineral intensity, all lifted by great acidity. Vinous noted lemon confit, wildflowers, mint and orchard fruits with real intensity but no excess weight. Large format slows its development; enjoy now through about 2030.
