Coup de Coeur, French for a heart's favorite, is the barrel selection Luc and Jodie Morlet set aside from their finest Chardonnay lots, drawing in 2014 on the best barrels from both of their sites. A drought year in California, 2014 brought an early harvest and ripe, expressive fruit, and this magnum shows a richer, more tropical profile than the estate's other Chardonnays. Wine Advocate described a breathtaking nose of honeyed tropical fruit, apple blossom, citrus oil and marmalade, calling it simply "a beauty." The full-bodied, creamy palate stays energetic thanks to vibrant acidity, with candied lemon peel, apricot and honey notes. Drink now through about 2030.
