Morlet Chardonnay Ma Douce Sonoma Coast 2019 750ml

Ma Douce is Morlet Family Vineyards' Chardonnay from a vineyard at 1,300 to 1,500 feet in the Fort Ross-Seaview appellation of the Sonoma Coast, planted mainly to the Old Wente clone. Crafted by French-born winemaker Luc Morlet, the 2019 is slightly richer than the 2020 while staying pure and focused. Jeb Dunnuck called it "a beauty," flawlessly balanced, with honeysuckle, white flowers, toasted bread and stone fruit. Grapefruit, fresh peach and Bosc pear add brightness, along with hints of nutmeg and chalk, a satiny texture and lively energy. Vinous counseled patience, so expect it to keep gaining complexity over the next five to eight years.
