Morlet Chardonnay Ma Princesse Russian River Valley 2017 750ml

Founded by Champagne native Luc Morlet and his wife Jodie, Morlet Family Vineyards crafts Burgundian-inspired Chardonnays from top Sonoma sites. Ma Princesse is sourced from the Ritchie Vineyard in the Russian River Valley, planted to old Wente clone vines more than 50 years old. The 2017 is a richer, more powerful style, layering honeysuckle, brioche, orange blossom, hazelnut and lemon meringue over white peach and lime leaf, with wet slate and struck flint adding complexity. Jeb Dunnuck placed it among "the crème de la crème of the vintage." Racy acidity and a satiny texture carry a long, tangy finish. Lovely now, it should continue to drink well through the late 2020s.
