Luc Morlet's La Proportion Dorée is a Bordeaux-inspired white from Sonoma, built on Sémillon with Sauvignon Blanc and a touch of Muscadelle from old, dry-farmed vines and fermented in barrel. The 2014 is the cuvée's landmark vintage, earning a perfect 100 points from Wine Advocate, which likened it to "a Sonoma County version of a dry Haut Brion blanc." Pale greenish gold, it offers lanolin, honeysuckle, orange marmalade, caramelized citrus and candle wax, with a broad, full-bodied texture kept lively by bright acidity. This 1500ml magnum is ageing more slowly than standard bottles and should drink beautifully over the next several years.
