Heat spikes in 2022 led the Opus One team to pick early and fast, starting with Merlot in late August, to preserve freshness. The result is an open, lively young Opus with chocolate, cherry and rose petal aromas, soft cedar and vanilla bean, and juicy bramble fruit. Decanter, which scored it 97, called it "not your typical blockbuster," praising its creamy, slightly grippy tannins and purity. It's more approachable in youth than many Opus vintages, yet has the concentration to age gracefully for 20 years.
