Pierre Morey is one of Meursault's most respected vignerons, a committed biodynamic farmer who also spent many years as régisseur of Domaine Leflaive. Alongside his celebrated whites he makes a small amount of red Monthélie, from the village tucked between Volnay and Meursault whose Pinot Noir shares some of Volnay's perfume with a slightly more rustic edge. The 2011 vintage was early-ripening and produced fresh, charming, red-fruited Burgundies. Expect cherry, raspberry and earthy spice, bright acidity and supple tannins. Now mature, it is drinking well and is best enjoyed over the next few years.
