Raen Pinot Noir Cuvee Royal St. Robert 2023 750ml

Raen was founded by brothers Carlo and Dante Mondavi, grandsons of Robert Mondavi, to make cool-climate Pinot Noir from the far western Sonoma Coast. Their Royal St. Robert Cuvée draws on vineyards they own and farm there, and the 2023 is a breakout: James Suckling scored it 99 points and named it his number one USA wine of 2025, calling it "an amazingly complex, dynamic wine." A cooler growing season brings out a wilder, savory edge. Look for redwood forest, rosemary, violets, black cherry, pomegranate, black tea and wild mushroom, with fine-grained tannins and crunchy acidity. Tightly wound now, it should be at its best from 2026 into the early 2030s.
