Remoissenet Père et Fils, the Beaune-based négociant house, is famous for its deep cellar of older Burgundy, and this 1966 Volnay 1er Cru En Chevret is a rare survivor from that tradition. En Chevret is a premier cru vineyard in Volnay, the Côte de Beaune village prized for perfumed, silky Pinot Noir. 1966 is regarded as a classic, well-balanced Burgundy vintage that produced wines with the structure to age. After six decades, expect a fully mature wine of delicate red fruit, dried rose, forest floor, mushroom and sous-bois character. Drink soon after opening, and decant gently to separate any sediment; condition and fill will vary from bottle to bottle.
