Reynvaan Family Vineyards is a leading Walla Walla Valley Syrah producer, and Stonessence comes from its In the Rocks Vineyard in the cobblestone-strewn Rocks District. The 2018 is 100% Syrah, mostly destemmed and raised in neutral puncheons, and Jeb Dunnuck scored it 98 points, calling it "another gem that flirts with perfection." He compared it to a great Jamet from the northern Rhône. Framboise and blackberry mingle with crushed violets, cracked pepper, gunpowder and spring flowers, while the medium to full-bodied palate is focused and expansive with ripe tannins.
