Vice Versa makes small-lot, vineyard-designated Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, and its Beckstoffer Las Piedras bottling comes from two adjacent sections of this famously rocky St. Helena vineyard, whose name means "the stones." Decanter described crushed rock, sun-dried wild herbs, ironstone minerality, tobacco and cedar, calling the full-bodied 2021 a powerhouse, with pure blackberry and cassis lifted by a firm spine of acidity. Jeb Dunnuck was equally impressed. Napa's 2021 vintage, shaped by drought and a mild, steady season, delivered small yields of concentrated, structured wines. The wine typically ages about 20 months in mostly new French oak. Decanter suggests drinking it between 2024 and 2038.
