Williams Selyem, founded by Burt Williams and Ed Selyem in the Russian River Valley in the early 1980s, became one of California's most celebrated Pinot Noir houses, but it has also long made a prized dessert wine from the Vista Verde Vineyard in San Benito County. This late-harvest Gewürztraminer is picked well after the normal harvest, once sugars and flavors have concentrated, and is bottled in half bottles (375ml). Expect an intensely aromatic wine of lychee, rose petal, apricot, honey and ginger spice, balanced by enough acidity to keep the sweetness lively. Serve chilled with blue cheese, foie gras or fruit desserts; enjoy now or hold for several more years.
