Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Bucher Vineyard Russian River Valley 2005 750ml

Williams Selyem, founded by Burt Williams and Ed Selyem in the early 1980s, became a cult Russian River Valley Pinot Noir producer whose mailing list still defines the category. The Bucher Vineyard bottling comes from a site farmed by the Bucher family, and in 2005 its young vines produced a ripe, generous wine. Stephen Tanzer found it "very elegant on the nose," with raspberry, wild strawberry, mineral and white flower notes, while Wine Enthusiast picked up cherry and cola and named it a Cellar Selection. Round and silky with gentle tannins and good length, it has now moved into savory, mature territory after nearly two decades and should be enjoyed soon.
