Williams Selyem began in the early 1980s as a garage operation run by Burt Williams and Ed Selyem and became one of California's most sought-after names, especially for Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Its Fanucchi-Wood Road Zinfandel comes from a historic Russian River Valley vineyard planted in the 1890s. The 2020 shows juicy dark and blue fruit with ink and slate notes, full body and polished tannins, and James Suckling noted that its energy "takes off at the end" thanks to natural acidity. Wine Enthusiast found old-vine notes of raisin cake and baked plum. Drink now through about 2030.
